With 2010 just underway, already there have been feet in many of the democrats' mouths. Many people, including the now World Famous “Obama Girl” are seeing the dangerous lacking in Obama’s leadership and wondering why all the promises of “Change” he made have not yet come into play.

Making very little headway in the important issues such as healthcare and more importantly, already going back on his campaign promises Obama has already stated he sees himself as a one term president and while personally I couldn’t agree more, he hasn't made much fans while in office anymore.  The honeymoon, despite seeming longer than most Presidents have enjoyed, is coming to a slow but strong hault.  How is this happening? Reality is sticking its little head into the minds of the once dead set followers of this Democrat leader.

An incredible example: While Senator Ted Kennedy’s shoes are incredibly large ones to fill when it comes to policy for the state, it seems the people within it no longer believed they should be filled by a democrat.  With a small budget, little known and now worldly known Senator Scott Brown won the special election for the Republicans.
This, many political pundits believe is a sign of the tides turning against the President and his fellow democrats and for The GOP.  Particularly, tides of the youth. The same who's college and university campuses were flooded with Obama supporters, signs and pro-Obama statements, who once loved and adored President Obama, have gone as far as to reschedule his State of the Union Speech so they wouldn’t be interrupted as they watch the first of the final episodes of Lost. How is this possible, lets look at the statistics a bit shall we?
To me I have seen that there are 2 active factions of the youth politically:
1. The youth that have voted for Obama and have grown up to find no positive “change” resulting from his win
And 2.  The youth that wish Obama would just go away

The current events, economy and otherwise have incredibly affected both of these groups
Both make up the highest piece of the unemployment rate which is increasing by the second
And more importantly: Both are the least supportive of the healthcare reform initiative
A factor Obama has been dead set on despite any statements regarding any bipartisan possibility.
Bottom line, Many graduates are fighting against a delayed successful entry into the workforce because at their first attempt, they are not only fighting with a job loss but also with applicants that have more experience and will probably work for peanuts while some of them are fighting to pay loans not to mention the increasingly high debt the government is giving us as a graduation gift.
More dangerous for the democrats the left no longer have the youth outreach they once had, During the special election of in Massachusetts….Obama asked his young followers to be more “fired up” than they were when he was running….well, we saw how well that comment did.
Bottom Line: The youth are, as many pundits have stated, waking up from their Obama indused coma to a very costly and personally dangerous hangover. My response: It's about Time!

Where is the pork barrel spending? I personally did not vote for Obama, but my laborers' union ( liuna ) endorsed him, and was completely anti-McCain. I personally did not vote for President, I voted on all other races, and possible amendments. Living in New York State which is and remains for now Blue, was overwhelmingly Obama leaning, even in my district which voted for Bush, Bush, Dole, HW Bush, HW Bush, Reagan.

Anyways, about Pork Barrel Spending, In my experience in the Construction Industry, when there is work, all businesses thrive. Stimulus funded projects are popping up all over the country, so for instance if the 700,000 members of my union ( LIUNA ) are out and working this allows these workers to purchase gasoline, groceries, pay their bills on time, go on vacation and be able to distribute the money among small businesses.(annual salary with seasonal unemployment compensation is roughly 25K-125K, depending on local prevailing rates )

I believe that the only way to save small businesses in this country is to repair the infustructure that Ronald Reagan neglected. Roads and Bridges across the country have been evaluated, put on a necessity scale and can be easily put out to bid.

These projects will begin to flourish across the country over the summer and in to 2011, of course the 3rd and 4th quarter are the best productivity in the construction industry, so I think Obama has till then before he really loses his grip on things. For everyone's sake I hope that these projects that were letted will trickle down to the little people, at least so we can pay our taxes..

Great Blog Heather, keep up the good work, and I say you are going to be the " Next " Heather Bachman

Because if these projects do not employ the union soon, you can count on losing roughly 500, 000 votes just from my union spread throughout the country.
And they wont be calling it anything than the " The Big Depression " when we look back in 15 years..

Perhaps if Republicans weren't making it impossible for Obama to make the changes he dreamed of for our country, we'd actually see some results.

And what is wrong with everybody? How can people believe that ONE man can make major changes in ONE year for an entire nation with the support of the senate? He's at a stalemate and he'll be blamed.

I agree with KM:
"How can people believe that ONE man can make major changes in ONE year for an entire nation with the support of the senate? He's at a stalemate and he'll be blamed."

The GOP's recalcitrance and obstructionism is un-American and demonstrates a profound lack of collective character. The GOP is responsible for the state of our economy, and it's going to take more time than a year and a half to clean it up, assuming we even can. Given this, all the GOP has to offer is their policy of Just Say No?

And as for the GOP's fantasy of repealing healthcare reform? Healthcare reform is now a LAW, meaning any attempts to repeal it will merely be vetoed by President Obama.
